Born in Glen Cove New York and raised in San Diego Ca. Charlie's curiosity with photography started at a early age at his grandmothers house in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. "I must have been 5 or 6 and loved to pop the flash bulbs on her polaroid camera."
His most formidable teenage years, were spent exploring photography and surfing in San Diego. "I used my photography as an escape. My world thru the view finder. Everything felt safe in there." After Graduating Brooks Institute of Photography with a major in Illustration and Advertising, he jumped at a chance to go to New York. He started his journey assisting for world renowned fashion photographers, Helmut Newton, Michel Compte', Michael Thompson, Robert Whitman and Guzman. The first big opportunity came when Spin magazine called asking if he could shoot a portrait of Mos Def and Beck together. "That's when I knew it was time to stop handing the camera away."
